5º – The Front (Martin Ritt, 1976)Howard Prince, in the early 1950s, is a man who makes his living as a cashier in a bar and makes bets for certain individuals. The plot gains strength when his friend, Phil Sussman, a famous Hollywood writer, seeks him out for help. Sussman, who recently entered Hollywood’s blacklist, asks Prince to start signing his scripts, as if they were written by Prince himself, in exchange for a small percentage of the sales commission. Prince accepts the mission and soon realizes that it was much more pleasurable and profitable than it looked a priori.
4º – Adaptation (Spike Jonze, 2002)A misfit screenwriter has to deal with new work that will take him out of his comfort zone, as well as follow the success of his twin, a socially pleasant individual, the opposite of his figure. ‘Adaptation’ is a complex film, exposing a story difficult to be digested in its central ideas, rewarding the viewer when we take the general apparatus. Here, Nicolas Cage plays two different characters, achieving an extremely productive performance.
