5º – Prisoners (Denis Villeneuve, 2013)Two little girls disappear without a trace. Desperate, the father of one of the girls decides not to wait for the police bureaucracy and investigate the case for himself. Everything here is impeccable. Its director, the Canadian Denis Villeneuve, manages to create a unique atmosphere to the film, explaining how low we can go in extreme situations. ‘Prisoners’ may be dismissed for being recent, not having his due recognition. However, it is valid to say, we have in this film one of the greatest exponents of suspense, managing to bring to the viewer every positive meander that the genre has to offer.
4º – Arrival (Denis Villeneuve, 2016)After several alien ships land on the earth in various parts of the globe, a linguist is hired to try to unravel the secrets of that ship that is in the United States. Little by little, she will realize that the motives of the aliens were far more positive than they appeared. ‘Arrival’ is a shocking movie. By being able to understand the nuances of the plot, we are taken to the finest of philosophical strands.
