4º – Memento (Christopher Nolan, 2000)Living only under the aspects of his short-term memory, a man searches incessantly for his wife’s killer. ‘Memento’ is a film about the nuances of the human psychological construct and our unique possibility to substantiate a life in any element of the world, whether it is socially plausible or not. Here, as in ‘The Turin Horse’, we are inundated with the concept of eternal return, where the here and now is the only thing we have.

3º – Youth (Paolo Sorrentino, 2015)The plot follows a small fragment of the life of two men, already in old age, who are spending a holiday in the Alps. ‘Youth’ guides his entire plot with a melancholy aura (something already traditional in the Italian cinema Paolo Sorrentino), showing two men reflecting on past experiences and confabulating about human beauty. The time here is shown as a relentless structure, it hurts the characters. Missed opportunities, unfinished novels, and unresolved friendships are discussed by everyone there.
