10 Movies About All Aspects of Love

3º – Chungking Express (Kar-Wai Wong, 1994)Divided into two stories, the film explores the bustling and at the same time lonely siege of love in Hong Kong. Kar-Wai Wong’s masterpiece, and one of the greatest films of the genre of novel already conceived, ‘Chungking Express’ is sincere in bringing the intricacies of love into a contemporary society, fostering the sometimes unpleasant figure of loneliness in all its characters.

2º – Sex, Lies, and Videotape (Steven Soderbergh, 1989)Exploring the nuances of the lives of four characters (two of whom are married), the film works on the concepts of sexuality, marriage, loneliness and betrayal, offering a fairly comprehensive picture of the day-to-day lives of people in their thirties in a society contemporary western style. ‘Sex, Lies, and Videotape’ chooses to study controversial and compelling concepts, never resorting to any cliches of the genre to attract the attention of your audience.

1º – Possession (Andrzej Zulawski, 1981)The film explores the degenerative compendium of the life of a couple, bringing the process of rustic separation faced by its components. Disturbing, ‘Possession’ comes into this list by exposing differently the tragic compendium a relationship can have, as well as raising a cruel view on the form of love appearing in some individuals. A film to be watched with a certain caution, given its extreme graphic content.

  1. I like your lists and the crisp, insightful pieces. But since I went through a lot of them at once, I must point, you use “Compendium” a lot. 🙂
