5º – About Schmidt (Alexander Payne, 2002)
After receiving the news that his daughter is getting married, a man decides to embark on a trip across the country to accompany the event. On the way, the man will learn more about himself, as well as glimpse items that he would never want to discover about his personality. ‘About Schmidt’ is a film allocated to the comedy genre, but has a rustic atmosphere, showing a whole damaging core about an individual simply unsuitable for the social apparatus. The film gets even more intense with Jack Nicholson’s irreproachable performance, providing us with unique moments, such as the last exciting scenes.
4º – Nebraska (Alexander Payne, 2013)
An old man begins a journey across the country with his reluctant son to seek a possible lottery prize. ‘Nebraska’ is untouchable from the first to the last scene, exposing an irresistible plot. Always guided by the exposure of a cold and melancholic atmosphere, the film appreciates to dismember a whole exacerbated compendium of life.
