9º – Love Liza (Todd Louiso, 2002)After his wife commits suicide without apparent reason, a man will have to find strength in the most diverse ways in order to continue leading his life. Extremely sad, ‘Love Liza’ is a typical film that should not be seen in moments of emotional difficulties. Its 90 minutes of duration will always impose on the viewer a discouraging atmosphere, not offering points of escape. It is worth mentioning that all the success of the film’s proposal passes through Philip Seymour Hoffman’s fabulous performance in front of the protagonist.
8º – Leaving Las Vegas (Mike Figgis, 1995)Disillusioned with the ways of his life, a man decides to go to Las Vegas to commit suicide after a few nights in the place. However, in the midst of this destructive journey, the man will meet a woman who will change her way of seeing the world. ‘Leaving Las Vegas’ perhaps shows the greatest performance of Nicolas Cage’s career. And, besides, the film works with interesting concepts of human life, noticing itself as a great option.
