7º – Ichi: The Killer (Takashi Miike, 2001)All the madness of the Japanese mafia is studied by the film, bringing the scariest layers of yakuza. ‘Ichi’ is not a recommended film for all audiences. Its graphic content can shock and its story that challenges the customs of a traditional society bother. However, we can place the film as one of the best in Asian cinema in the 21st century.
6º – High Tension (Alexandre Aja, 2003)When visiting her best friend’s house, located in a small rural area of France, a young woman finds herself in an unpleasant situation when a serial killer breaks into the house at dawn, exterminating her friend’s entire family. Now it is up to her to survive and also to try to keep her friend alive. Owner of an intermittent tension (as its title indicates), this film is a pearl of the horror cinema of the beginning of this century. It is 91 minutes of scares and twists, with small memorable scenes. However, far from being perfect, the film has one of the most pathetic endings of the whole genre, diminishing a lot of the brightness of the rest of the work.
