The plot brings the relationship between a war veteran and a leader of a controversial cult, scrutinizing the destructive compendium that comprises the lives of both. A masterpiece in its essence, ‘The Master’ is impeccable in each option, whether in the construction of his characters, his photography, soundtrack or, properly, the genial direction of Paul Thomas Anderson. The film also brings, supported by the figure of the leader of the controversial movement, a character obsessed with power, using each instrument and individual to achieve a certain objective, without caring about the possible consequences of his acts in the lives of others.
4º – The Irishman (Martin Scorsese, 2019)
A unique chance to see Al Pacino and Robert De Niro together in a Martin Scorsese film, ‘The Irishman’ is more films about the mafia of the director’s career that stands out as a true masterpiece. An intelligent film, well directed, with performances that border on perfection and a dynamic in every scene that impresses. The highlight of the film in the field of acting, despite having great performances from the two legends mentioned above, is actor Joe Pesci, who gets one of the greatest performances of his brilliant career.
