4º – Naked (Mike Leigh, 1993) – JohnnyJohnny embarks on an empty journey through life, acting to injure everyone around him with his nihilism impregnated in his way of being, despising all the elements that make up the world, nourishing an existential void inherent in its essence. The film will focus, during its 132 minutes of duration, in this empty journey of Johnny, unraveling all forms of social interchange that the man effects. One of director Mike Leigh’s best films, exposing, as well as in “Life is Sweet,” how the intrinsic rotting of the human species can penetrate the most improbable and worst-case fields.
3º – Blue Jasmine (Woody Allen, 2013) – JasmineAfter separating from her husband and having financial problems unimaginable in the past, Jasmine has to live with her sister, a woman much more humble about money, relearning about some instances of life. Exposing one of Woody Allen’s best works in the 21st century, ‘Blue Jasmine’ still delivers an irreplaceable performance of actress Cate Blanchett ahead of the protagonist.
2º – Bugsy (Barry Levinson, 1991) – Bugsy SiegelThe plot follows in the footsteps of Bugsy Siegel, an irascible visionary, and his journey of obsession with women and the construction of a casino in the middle of the desert. Demonstrating a completely exacerbated behavior in relation to his social environment, man nourishes a pleasant form in his contact with other people, in the same measure that acts in a violent way when confronted. ‘Bugsy’ is directed by the great Barry Levinson and features the legendary Warren Beatty.
1º – The Big Lebowski (Ethan and Joel Coen, 1998) – ‘The Dude’Seeking just to spend quiet and carefree days playing bowling, Jeff Lebowski, or ‘The Dude’ (as it is known and exposed in the film), has his life turned upside down when he is mistaken for a millionaire with the same name. The mismatch is contained in the way Leboswski takes his life and the occasional setbacks of his daily life, always exposing a calm, almost sleepy way of acting, seeming not to feel the real weight of certain situations. ‘The Big Lebowski’ is an irredeemable film, working to entertain its viewer in all its 117 minutes of duration.
