9º – Manchester by the Sea (Kenneth Lonergan, 2016)
A man wrapped in a self-destructive routine is forced to return to a city that was part of his traumatic past to care for his brother’s deceased son. Instead, the man will have to deal with several rustic instances of this past, as well as offer his godson a life of quality. Sad and honest in his onslaught, ‘Manchester by the Sea’ is a typical movie that requires some preparation from its viewer, given its rather strong conceptual content. A movie that stays a long time with us even after it’s over.
