3º – Under the Skin (Jonathan Glazer, 2013)Nurturing a strange plot, giving the possibility for various interpretations of what happens on screen, ‘Under the Skin’ is bold in trying to exacerbate the imaginative construct of the viewer. All that is exposed in the film is based on a hard assumption, with scenes that are not very palatable, however well made they may be. A different film, which still has a blunt performance by Scarlett Johansson.

 

2º – Dead Ringers (David Cronenberg, 1988)Two twin brothers, both respected doctors, end up getting involved with the same woman, starting a perverse game without winners. Masterpiece by David Cronenberg, this film takes advantage of the unique talent of its director in the aesthetic construction of each scene, bringing a beautiful cinematography and a perfect soundtrack to complete. Also worth mentioning is the undeniable story and the phenomenal performance of Jeremy Irons commanding the two central characters.

 

1º – The Haunting (Robert Wise, 1963)In the plot, a group of researchers decides to investigate the existence of paranormal phenomena in a mansion known for tragic events. In the midst of the investigation process, little by little, strange events will put the members of that group in danger, challenging everything they took for granted in their lives. ‘The Haunting’ is a film that manages to remain frightening even after more than 50 years of its release. Its style of terror that takes advantage of punctual and cadenced situations ends up having more effect than a constant exposure of extreme scenes, provoking scares and a fear that dominates the spectators.
