3º – One Hour Photo (Mark Romanek, 2002)A lonely man working in a small camera shop finds himself completely obsessed with a family that develops his photos in place, initiating strange and destructive behavior that will put everyone at risk. ‘One Hour Photo’ is interesting for bringing actor Robin Williams playing a different character from the ones he traditionally has in his career, explaining a grim and intense performance.
2º – Perfect Blue (Satoshi Kon, 1997)A successful singer decides to leave the world of music and become an actress. However, the road to success in her new venture becomes more difficult than she thought. Little by little, the woman will begin to lose contact with reality and will realize her sanity at risk, no longer knowing how to differentiate reality from hallucinations. ‘Perfect Blue’ is not an animation for any kind of audience, exposing an adult plot, with extremely psychologically disturbing scenes. However, it is worth saying, we have here a real masterpiece. A film that manages to transpose to the viewer all the pathological compendium of a character condemned by his own choices.
1º – Affliction (Paul Schrader, 1997)Exploring a man’s madness debacle, ‘Affliction’ is one of Paul Schrader’s great films. Here we will have all the private and social processes that man is submitted to in the midst of his psychological construction in a state of degeneration. We will see how the figure of a harmful past also influences man, even more than the present, acting as a structure rooted in his psyche. The film also features a superb performance by Nick Nolte in front of the central character.
