8º – Stigmata (Rupert Wainwright, 1999)When a young woman begins to suffer from strange lesions in her body that happen out of nowhere, the girl will seek answers in the most improbable sources to try to know what is happening. In spite of his exaggerated script, ‘Stigmata’ still manages to present constructions of scenes that attract the attention of the spectator, taking advantage of the clichés of the genre.

7º – Thesis (Alejandro Amenábar, 1996)After learning about an alleged videotape containing “snuff” content in her college while conducting research on violence, a student decides to investigate the case, only to discover things she might not have stirred. ‘Thesis’ actually fits more into the genre of suspense, with unevenness in its plot always laden with mystery and investigative sense, but some of its paths chosen by the script and direction in the final stretch make us include the movie on this terror list.
6º – I Know What You Did Last Summer (Jim Gillespie, 1997)After a tragic accident that had victimized a person, some teenagers decide to hide the story and make a silent pact on the case. The plot gains strength when, a year after the accident, teenagers begin to receive messages about the case and have their lives threatened. ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’, along with ‘Urban Legend’ and ‘Scream’, is a film that captures exactly the horror zeitgeist of the 1990s, serving to hasten new directions for the genre that endure until today.
5º – The Blair Witch Project (Daniel Myrick, 1999)Three students decide to make a documentary about a haunted forest and check out a legend about the witch who lives there. As students advance over the forest, strange events begin to erupt, causing them to enter into a mental game for their survival. Forerunner of a new form of horror, with the now-popular “found footage”, ” The Blair Witch Project” actually makes a good movie and a great experience within the genre, even if some things have an air currently lagged.
