4º – Begin Again (John Carney, 2013)
A music producer and aspiring singer end up forming a different bond of friendship, always having as background the dynamic scenery of the music industry. Directed and scripted by John Carney, ‘Begin Again’ features a form of platonic romance in its history, bringing characters who get pleasure simply by being in each other’s company.
3º – Chungking Express (Kar-Wai Wong, 1994)
Fragmented into two different stories, the plot shows the trajectories of two couples amid the sprawling, lonely Hong Kong. ‘Chungking Express’ is a masterpiece, offering a sweet look at the rustic instances of life in society, always taking advantage of the magisterial plans of filmmaker Kar-Wai Wong.
2º – Hiroshima Mon Amour (Alain Resnais, 1959)
Working on a film with her recordings concentrated in Hiroshima, an actress ends up living an intense romance with a local man. Directed by Alain Resnais, this masterpiece, masterfully captured in each plane, exposes a concise and strong story, working on past and present.
1º – In The Mood for Love (Kar-Wai Wong, 2000)
After discovering that their partners are committing adultery, a man and a woman will start a strange relationship that will completely alter their lives. Kar-Wai Wong’s other masterpiece, “In the Mood For Love” lends a melancholy atmosphere to the plot unfolding in a fabulous cinematography (one of the most beautiful in film history), a screenplay productive, irreproachable direction and excellent performances.
