3º – Lady Bird (Greta Gerwig, 2017)Working with the figure of youth in its history, this film introduces us to the life of a teenager, shrouded in an insomniac reality of a small town, explaining her virtues and defects, as well as her dreams and her agitated love life. ‘Lady Bird’ is one of the greatest films about youth, presenting the viewer with a normal character, escaping the clichés common to subgenus. A unique film that will bring a very strong nostalgic feeling to you during all your 94 minutes. Still, of course, it’s worth highlighting the direction of the great Greta Gerwig and the unforgettable performance of actress Saoirse Ronan.
2º – Truman (Cesc Gay, 2015)Two friends meet again after a while. Together, they talk about everyday events, the past and family. The film gains its substance when one of them reveals that his days are numbered in the world. Now, it is up to both of them to deal with the figure of death. ‘Truman’ is honest in his onslaughts, never attenuating the most intense fragments of the film’s central concept, the figure of death. A very beautiful film, nourishing a productive script, positive direction and two magisterial performances by actors Ricardo Darín and Javier Cámara.
1º – Wild Tales (Damián Szifron, 2014)The film is fragmented into six different stories, each one exposing a different theme, always raising the concept of revenge to the acts of the characters. A masterpiece in all its ramifications, ‘Wild Tales’ is that typical film that remains in the psychological apparatus of the spectator even long after its completion. Each of the six stories is incredible, with fantastic and irresistible stories. It’s even difficult to bring a single highlight to the film, but I believe that Ricardo Darín’s performance in front of the incredible character “Bombita” is the highest quality point.
