3º – King of New York (Abel Ferrara, 1990)An important mobster is released from prison, reconnecting with important figures from his past. However, his time away from his activities would change the way that social compendium acts, making man’s instance of power somewhat questionable. ‘King of New York’ is cold in his decisions, never separating himself from his cadenced rhythm to trigger scenes. In this excellent work by Abel Ferrara, Christopher Walken assumes the central character, achieving one of his great performances in his career.

2º – White Heat (Raoul Walsh, 1949)Bringing the downfall to the madness of an unscrupulous character, ‘White Heat’ is an unretouchable work, exposing several different nuances, even with certain exaggerations, of individuals intrinsic to erratic models of life. The film also has a pleasant and well-conducted narrative, a dynamism inherent to the progress of the scenes and a striking end to the cinema of the time.

1º – Eastern Promises (David Cronenberg, 2007)A nurse ends up getting involved with the personal events of a woman who died recently in the hospital where she works. However, getting involved with facts of the girl’s life will bring her together with the mafia a series of setbacks. David Cronenberg’s best film in the 21st century, ‘Eastern Promises’ brings the director’s traditional exacerbated violence, always alternating with an agile plot. Here, much of the film’s success is due to the memorable performance of Viggo Mortensen, who gets the best interpretation of his life in the work.
