8º – The In-Laws (Arthur Hiller, 1979)Waiting for his daughter’s fiancé’s family for a dinner, Sheldon Kornpett, a grumpy man, is little anxious for the event. After the arrival of such a family, Sheldon realizes that they are not the most conventional type, but the criminal type. ‘A High Risk Marriage’ reaches its peak exactly in the famous partnership between Alan Arkin and Peter Falk as protagonists, bringing a simple comedy that values more for a physical humor. A great choice of the genre of the late 1970s.
7º – Bad Santa (Terry Zwigoff, 2003)Two criminals decide to take a job as Santa Claus to try to rob a store. The film will use its 91 minute duration showing this claudicating journey of both in search of their non-humanitarian goals. One of the most emblematic works about the Christmas period, ‘Santa Claus in the Backside’ is fun from beginning to end, never resorting to the traditional clichés of subgenre and subverting everything we had as essential to works with this theme. Of course, Billy Bob Thornton’s performance as a protagonist stands out.
