40º – Forces of Nature (Bronwen Hughes, 1999)
In the process of getting married, a man faces the most diverse difficulties in finding his bride after a trip. The film gains its substance when, by mere chance, the man meets a woman in the middle of his journey, falling in love with her and facing moral dilemmas about the right decision to make. ‘Forces of Nature’ has as its highest quality the partnership between Sandra Bullock and Ben Affleck as protagonists, counting on a simple story, but that manages to involve the spectator, and a romantic aura that permeates each scene.
39º – Sleepless in Seattle (Nora Ephron, 1993)
A lonely widowed man, at the request of his little son, participates in a radio program to find a new companion, quickly becoming a sensation in his city. ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ is regular in his general compendium, using a plot that moves in a cadenced way, possessing in the figures of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan the points that really make the film worthwhile.
38º – An Officer and a Gentleman (Taylor Hackford, 1982)
In the plot, a young Navy member seeks success in his area, with the help of a new passion: ‘An Officer and a Gentleman’ takes full advantage of the talents of Richard Gere and Debra Winger to attract the spectator, delivering a novel story that knows how to take advantage of the eventual clichés of the genre to reach certain points.
37º – Two English Girls (François Truffaut, 1971)
Allocated at the beginning of the 20th century, the film follows a love triangle between two young English sisters and a French boy, bringing all the exacerbated core that comprises the relationship between the three. Belonging to François Truffaut’s cinema, ‘Two English Girls’ is little revered in the director’s filmography. His dense plot, which always chooses to cause suffering to his central characters, reaches the spectator in the right way, being characterized as an excellent film.
36º – Great Expectations (Alfonso Cuarón, 1998)
Based on a novel by Charles Dickens, the film fragments into two chronological periods to tell the story of a romance between a man and a woman. ‘Great Expectations’ is a film that can reach more those spectators who are in love, telling a story that breathes love into every nuance exposed.
