4º – The Quiet Family (Jee-woon Kim, 1998)
The plot tells the life of a family who owns a hotel in the mountains, which, after an unexpected tragedy with one of its guests, begins to face several conflicts by the simple play of chance. Extremely entertaining, the film presents a great conjunction of characters that demonstrate an inability to deal with problems, always choosing the most exacerbated choice.

3º – American Beauty (Sam Mendes, 1999)
A middle-aged man, sexually frustrated and neglected by his family, ends up suffering an emotional crisis, awakening at its core an unexpected vitality to deal with the instances of life. ‘American Beauty’ uncovers the footsteps of a family embedded in a self-destructive routine, criticizing how the traditional American idea of healthy family nucleus is conceived.
2º – The Savages (Tamara Jenkins, 2007)
When his aging father begins to present problems in his behavior, it is up to a man and his sister to unite to take care of him. Through the exposition of the tortuous coexistence of the three, the film traverses problems of a whole life conducted in a turbulent way, giving them incorrigible emotional problems.
1º – The Celebration (Thomas Vinterberg, 1998)
A journey through the interior of a family in complete ruined state. A work that reveals how certain facts of the lives of each individual are often overtaken by a social mask of normality. Here, everything within the exploited family goes to the worst of humanity. ‘The Celebration’ still presents a crude and necessary vision of the human psychological construct and its exacerbations. Danish film masterpiece and the best film of the career of the great filmmaker Thomas Vinterberg.
