6º – Winter Light (Ingmar Bergman, 1963)

A priest from a small town struggles to keep his faith in the midst of a life of uncertainty. Everything is questioned here. Every word, look and gesture denounce their inability to continue to be guided by their convictions of the past. The most significant moment of the film is when a man goes to church looking for some reason to continue living and leaves after a conversation with the priest, more disillusioned than when he entered. A hard film about unpleasant subjects that shows the “aura” that rules the world.

5º – Detachment (Tony Kaye, 2011)

The life of a substitute teacher is disrupted before the viewer, revealing all his apathy towards the world and his distrust of the human being. The 98-minute length of the film is completely disheartening to the characters there and the audience they watch. The steps that the teacher takes to fulfill his / her day-to-day functions end up becoming more comprehensible with every minute of the film. Even moments of a possible rediscovery of the pleasures of life are punished at some point.
