3º – Die Hard (John McTiernan, 1988)
Allocated at Christmas, the film follows the kidnapping of a corporate building by a “terrorist group” that actually intends to carry out a major robbery. The criminals’ plans begin to succumb when they realize that John McClane, an off-duty policeman, is arrested on the scene and decided to hinder them as much as possible. A landmark of the action genre, ‘Die Hard’ is responsible for the emergence of several such clichés. Also worth mentioning is the character of Hans Gruber, masterfully played by Alan Rickman, one of the biggest and most entertaining villains in cinema.
2º – Predator (John McTiernan, 1987)
A group of mercenaries on a mission in South America suddenly find themselves trapped by a strange and deadly alien creature. Flirting with the horror genre, ‘Predator’ even obtains his success in the unique atmospheric creation and its ever-dynamic rhythm. First and best movie of the ‘Predator’ saga in the cinemas.
1º – Cobra (George P. Cosmatos, 1986)
A cult of murderers spreads across a city, killing people in brutal ways. When a model flees an assassination attempt by the cult, it is up to a rustic and amoral policeman to try to protect it. A milestone in Stallone’s filmography in the 1980s, ‘Cobra’ doesn’t need much to become a classic of its kind. A lot of action and unforgettable phrases place this film as one of the most memorable of Sylvester Stallone’s career.
