3º – The Master (Paul Thomas Anderson, 2012)
The plot brings the relationship between a veteran of war and a leader of a controversial cult, smashing the destructive compendium that comprises the lives of both. Masterpiece in its essence, The Master is impeccable in every option, whether in the construction of his characters, his photography, soundtrack or, properly, the brilliant direction of Paul Thomas Anderson. The film still bears a character obsessed with power, using each instrument and individual to achieve a certain goal, without regard to the possible consequences of their actions on the lives of others, supported by the figure of the leader of the controversial movement.
2º – Moonlight (Barry Jenkins, 2016)
Several fragments of the life of a boy are explored by the plot, bringing the ins and outs of his exacerbated relationship with the world around him. ‘Moonlight’ manages to give an assertive look to a layer neglected by the cinema: homoaffective relationships among blacks. Unquestionable masterpiece of cinema that remains in the head of the viewer even long after its completion.
1º – Captain Fantastic (Matt Ross, 2016)
A parent faces a major dilemma in their life after their life model embedded in nature, away from society, begin to present itself as a limiting factor for their growing children. ‘Captain Fantastic’ is a recent pearl of cinema, offering a different look at the subjective consummation of life for several different individuals.
