A different option on the subject of the mafia in cinema, ‘A Bronx Tale’ has a cadenced plot, more based on the full construction of its characters, a good direction and performance by Robert De Niro – who commands both fronts – besides the productive rest of the cast.
4º – Carlito’s Way (Brian De Palma, 1993)In the plot, a middle-aged man, wrapped throughout his life in criminality, is released from prison and promises himself that he will stay away from the crooked ways of the world and lead an honest life. However, the past will erupt several times in man’s life, with people and cases that will force him to return to the world of crime. ‘Carlito’s Way’ marks the epic reunion of Brian De Palma and Al Pacino after the wonderful ‘Scarface’. Here, we won’t have anything even close to the previous contribution between the two, with a film more focused on transposing to the spectator the dramas of a character condemned by wrong choices of his journey in the world. A good film that is certainly worth its 144 minutes of duration.
