8º – A Woman Under the Influence (John Cassavetes, 1974)In John Cassavetes’ great film masterpiece, we will see a husband’s struggle to save his family, while at the same time psychologically sickening his wife. Here, we will obtain the steps of a woman to the state of complete madness. The film is sweet, does not have traditional documentary style of the director, managing to capture all the beauty of the plot and call centers. “A Woman Under the Influence” is one of the most powerful performances in film history with a performance by actress Gena Rowlands.
7º – Kramer vs. Kramer (Robert Benton, 1979)The film explores an unappealing piece of marriage: divorce. ‘Kramer Vs. Kramer ‘shows the separation of a couple and the nuances found with his small son. A film that seeks to develop in a quiet way, exploring every detail of the process contiguous to the psychological separation of two individuals and resulting in social, professional and personal.
6º – Blue Valentine (Derek Cianfrance, 2010)We will go through some fragments of the lives of two people. We will see from the process of the formation of a couple to the moment in which those individuals perceive themselves incapable of living together. A powerful and heartfelt film in its tracks, showing every detail of an erratic relationship.
5º – Prague (Ole Christian Madsen, 2006)In the plot, Christoffer travels with his wife to Prague in an attempt to bring the body of his newly deceased father to be finally buried. However, in the unfolding of the trip, Christoffer discovers that his wife maintains a relation outside the marriage. The discovery unravels a series of questions between the two. Great film from Danish cinema, ‘Prague’ succeeds in exploiting cruelly the heart of a destroyed relationship.
