3º – The Maltese Falcon (John Huston, 1941)
A private detective gets involved in a case permeated by twists and turns, having to deal with the most peculiar criminals. Directed by John Huston, the film brings out the best in the genre, serving as one of its main exponents, presenting a plot that changes with each outdated scene.
2º – The Big Sleep (Howard Hawks, 1946)
The film, always emanating a dense atmosphere of suspense and mystery, brings a story permeated with nuances about the hiring of a private detective by a wealthy family. Howard Hawks’ film classic, ‘À Beira do Abismo’, in addition to his well tied and surprising plot, presents an irreproachable performance by Humphrey Bogart at the head of the film.
1º – In a Lonely Place (Nicholas Ray, 1950)
An unscrupulous screenwriter finds himself inserted in the scene of a murder, placed as the main suspect, relying on an unexpected witness to innocent him. Impeccable, the film is a delight for lovers of the genre, mixing the standard atmosphere of noir works with an unretouchable script. In the Silence of the Night’ still gives us, once again, a masterly performance by Humphrey Bogart at the head of the film.
